In their 2006 concert series, “Fancies for the Soul and Mind”, Consort Eclectus continues to present Australian audiences with imaginative programming from the rich repertoire of the viol consort. Seating is limited so booking is advised. You are invited to a light supper after each performance. Why did Johann Sebastian Bach walk from Arnstadt to Lübeck and stay there for three months?
Consort Eclectus together with organist Calvin Bowman explore the inspirational music of J.S. Bach, Dietrich Buxtehude and contemporaries. As a recitalist, Calvin Bowman’s masterly interpretations of baroque works have won widespread critical acclaim, and Consort Eclectus will illuminate this repertoire with transcriptions and arrangements for viols.

With a long-standing reputation as a consummate violinist, Australian born Cynthia O'Brien performs regularly in Europe and Australia. She joins with Consort Eclectus to present the intricate consort music of the English Renaissance and introduce Peter Sculthorpe’s “Djilile” to Melbourne audiences.
